Deep tissue myotherapy, simply meaning deep tissue muscle therapy, is focused on reducing tension in the muscles and joints. Tension in the muscles and joints build up as a consequence of sitting at a desk, or doing a repetitive activity for long periods. Intensive sporting activities such as weight training, cycling, football and rugby also result in discomfort and tightness in the back, glutes and hamstring muscles. Regular myotherapy treatments are very essential in maintaining muscle health and posture. |

Pressure point therapy also referred to as acupressure is very similar to acupuncture, except in pressure point therapy the tip of the thumb and fingers is used instead of acupuncture needles. We apply pressure point therapy on patients who do not like needles. Pressure point therapy is especially effective for the disorders of the tendons. We often combine deep tissue myotherapy with pressure point therapy to get to the core of the stagnation that is always present in tight muscles. Stagnation, or bunched up muscles, often contains some degree of unmoved blood and plasma. This causes swelling in the muscle which presses against the surrounding nerves and causes pain. Pressure point therapy breaks through this stagnation to alleviate pain and promote normal circulation of blood and plasma. |

Cupping involves creating suction inside special cups and placing them on the skin.
